I've Been Curious About...

... these shoes. Anyone who's a runner knows there seems to be a movement towards minimalist running that has been growing over the last 10ish years. (Of course, minimalist/barefoot running has always been around but has garnered more attention lately.) I myself find the minimalist running theory interesting and can see where the logic/ideas come from. I have actually seen people running barefoot around Central Park, but I won't go that far as I like the soles of my feet without holes in them and would like for them to stay that way.

So, when I saw these shoes, I really wanted to try them out. I had some birthday money from The Pharrs and decided to buy these shoes to see for myself what minimalist running is all about. I have had them for two days. The first day I wore them around the apartment to get a feel for them. Today I wore them out on the street walking to/from my yoga class. So far, they have felt pretty cool. Kind of like you are walking around in socks, but with some protection from the junk on the street. Tomorrow is the big day as I am going to actually run in them. You are supposed to start 'slow' when running barefoot/minimal for the first time, but I can't bring myself to only run 2 or so miles when I usually run 4.5 (you runners out there know what I'm talking about). So, I will run the full 4.5 miles tomorrow in these shoes, or fail trying - but the goal will be the full 4.5 miles. I will update you on my success/failure and my thoughts on minimalist running after trying these snazzy shoes for myself!
