Even though Matt and I have been super busy, we have managed to make some time for fun :) Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to Baltimore, Maryland. So, we got to add another city, another state and another ballpark to our respective lists ;) It was a very fast trip (about 36 hours), but we fit a lot into that little bit of time.
Saturday in Baltimore
When we arrived, we first went to lunch at a place our friend, Trish, recommended called Captain James Landing. I unfortunately did not get any pictures, but I should have. The tables were set up with mallots and plastic utensils, dressed in heavy paper (for all of your crab-leg-eating-messiness) and each table had its own plastic, over-sized beach bucket to use as a trash pail. It was great and the food was just as good.
After lunch, we headed towards Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles. See, Matt and I have several life "ambitions" - one of them is to hit all 50 states and another is to hit all of the US major league ballparks. So, our trip to Baltimore helped us gain a new state and a new ballpark :) We saw the Orioles play the Kansas City Royals. It was a really nice ballpark. It reminded me a lot of The Ballpark in Arlington - same kind of look and feel.
Matt, me...and my arm ;)
Saturday night was date night in Baltimore. Props to Matt for planning date night in an unknown city (he actually planned the whole trip as I was swamped with school - sweet husband :)) and finding one of the most romantic restaurants I think we've ever been to. We went to Kali's Court, which had a dark, swanky, old-world atmosphere inside, and the outside seating was surrounded by vines, trees, shrubs, flowers and any other kind of greenery growing all over. You really felt like you were in a secluded garden. To top it all off, the service was wonderful and the food was very, very good. Good job on date night, Matt!
My entree ~ mahi mahi with jumbo lump crab and risotto (so good!)
Matt's entree ~ seared sea scallops with bacon risotto and lobster sauce
Sunday in Baltimore
Sunday was really all about cruising the harbor. We had a lunch cruise set up and just kind of lazed around until then. The lunch cruise was very fun and a great way to see the city. I took a ton of pics on this cruise, so I will narrow it down to a few :)
Our vantage point from the inside
All the pretty boats
Fort McHenry - the inspiration for The Star Spangled Banner
Baltimore fading away (before we turned around, of course ;))
Trying to get some scenic shots on the top deck, but didn't work out too well - but we still look good ;)
After the lunch cruise, we went up to Federal Hill, which is supposed to have the best views of the city. I must say, the views were pretty good and I got to use the panoramic function on my camera phone :)
The View
The Drinks
My cute little champagne bottle :)
The Food
My appetizer ~ braised rabbit with ricotta dumplings
Matt's appetizer ~ scallop ceviche
Matt's entree ~ crisp duck breast
My entree: red snapper with artichokes
My dessert: goat cheese cheesecake, with lemon sorbet and vanilla cannoli as a plus
Matt's dessert: chocolate cake, with vanilla ice cream and a fancy smore-like concoction as a plus
The happy couple :)

Loving your hair these days! xoxoxo ;-)
ReplyDeleteohhh, now when I watch Law & Order and they mention Bellvue I will always think of you! Jealous that you added another ballpark. I haven't added a new one since Detroit.
