Changing Speed

Well, over the last two weeks I have gone from life at 100+ mph to life at about 2 mph. School officially ended a little over two weeks ago. Almost immediately after, there was a fun-filled and busy trip to Texas, and now I have officially become a couch potato on the weekdays ;) While I am enjoying the mental break, I do get bored most days. However, I am pretty sure that will be remedied as soon as I start my internship in a couple of weeks. So, I am just going to keep enjoying this slow pace until then ;)

Texas Trip
For Father's Day weekend, we went to Texas. Every other year, my father's family holds a family reunion in Lubbock, TX. So, we took a flight to Dallas on Thursday, drove to Lubbock on Friday, had 2 days of family fun (which mostly includes playing 42), and then drove back to Dallas on Sunday. Then we spent 2 days with Matt's family, which included a belated Father's Day lunch at the Palm Restaurant. AND, we made sure to have time for a night of fun with our friends at The Bottle Shop, which is an awesome beer bar in Dallas, TX. As I seem to forget to take pictures when we are in Dallas, I have only one to share from this trip, and it was graciously donated by my friend, Stacey :)

I Heart NY Day
This past Saturday, several of us got together to play tourist for a day. We met in Times Square all decked out in our best tourist garb and jumped on a hop on/hop off bus tour. We rode around the city on a lovely sunny day, and learned (more accurately - joked about) some not-so-accurate city facts from our first tour guide. After stopping off for lunch at Stone Street (an awesome historic street that has a very European feel, al fresco dining and several eateries to choose from), we hopped back on the bus and the second tour guide was pretty good.

Later in the afternoon, we all went back to our hotels (aka apartments) to rest up and dress up for dinner at the Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant. After a fun day and a lovely dinner, we finished with a night cap (ok... several night caps) at a really swanky bar, Campbell's Apartment, which is kind of tucked away in the corridors of Grand Central. Again, I am bad at taking pictures when I am in my 'hometown', so these pictures are also graciously donated by a friend, my dear, sweet Noelle :)

Everyone who ordered lobster got a super cool bib :)

Of course, Matt had two more celebrity sightings this day! As I always say... he gets all of the celebrity sightings. I just don't have the eyes for it, apparently. While on the tour bus, we passed what was obviously a filming/shooting/photo session of some sort. As we passed, I was looking for someone famous, and then of course Matt says, "Hey! That's Heidi Klum!" Even after he said it, I still didn't manage to spot her before we drove past. :( Then later that night as we were leaving Grand Central, there was a movie being filmed, and he spotted Clive Owen. I did manage to see Clive Owen after Matt pointed him out, but I never would have spotted him on my own. Matt really does have a talent for spotting celebrities ;)
