- Matt got promoted :) YAY! He is now a Senior Director.
- I have successfully completed my Psych clinical and am starting my Medical-Surgical clinical. AND, I have had 3 exams and made As on them all :) YAY!
We have been doing some stuff to de-stress over the last month, mainly seeing family and taking some vacation time.
For Matt's mom's 60th birthday, we made a surprise trip to Dallas to spend the weekend with his family. I think Matt's mom was definitely surprised and very happy to have Matt home for her birthday :) We hit up a lot of our favorite places, including the Pharr-family-endorsed diner, Poor Richards Cafe (very solid breakfast!) For Matt's mom's birthday dinner, we went to Ferrari's Italian Villa. It was delightful - the atmosphere was perfect and the food was delicious. We had to leave Dallas way too soon, but it was so good to see family and surprise Matt's mom for her birthday :)
Just two weeks later, my parents came to NYC for Easter weekend. Of course, we took the opportunity of having visitors to do all (or most) of the touristy things we hadn't done yet. I am pretty sure I wore everyone out with the very full weekend I planned, but we had lots of fun :) I will let the pics below do most of the talking...
Friday
First stop... Wafels & Dinges!! :)
Empire State Building
Boat cruise around Manhattan
On Friday,we also swung by The Highline, Chelsea Market, Times Square and Rockefeller Center. I have plenty more pics of all our Friday activities, but I actually trying to limit the pictures on this post ;)
Saturday
World Trade Center Memorial
Wall Street
And of course, no trip to NYC is complete without... The Meatball Shop :)
The Intrepid
Mine and Matt's Confirmation (the main reason my parent's were in NYC for a visit)
At our church's Easter Vigil Service
Sunday
Liberty Island and Ellis Island
Jersey Boys - great show!!
(couldn't take any pics, so you get the playbill ;))
Dinner/Dessert
After the show, we strolled through Central Park and then we went to dinner at Ted's Montana Grill.
But, more importantly we then went to Capital Grille for the yummiest desserts :)
Cheesecake (the best!)
Coconut Cream Pie (pretty good, too :))
Flourless Chocolate Cake (also delicious :))
My parents' last day was Monday. We did have time to hit the Guggenheim before they needed to head towards the airport. We did so much in 3.5 days - WHEW!
After that Matt and I needed a break, so we went to Jamaica :) Actually, we had this trip planned for a while as the week following Easter was my Spring Break, and we knew we would both need a vacation after the very busy lives we lead. We didn't do much but sit around and soak in the relaxation and sun. Here are some pictures to hopefully leave you feeling warm and peaceful :)
Our Resort
Beach - ahhh :)
Bye :)
