Philly!!

Over Thanksgiving weekend, we made a trip to Philadelphia. (I know, I know... way late post. I have excuses, but I won't bore you with them ;)) Philly is a very easy city to get around and pretty walkable; it is laid out on a grid with different areas/segments. We managed to explore most of them, and of course, we partook in the local food/beverage options ;)

Friday - Old City
As some of you may know, Philly served as the nation's capital from 1790 - 1800 and was the place of the signing of The Declaration of Independence. As you can imagine, it has a lot of history. So, we spent our first day exploring the historical areas of the city.

Saturday - Rest of Philly
On Saturday, we walked from our hotel (near the Convention Center) all the way to the Museum of Art, which is at the other end of the city center. We covered a lot of ground this day! We started at IHOP (you need a good breakfast for a long day of exploring), then passed the Occupy Philly movement at City Hall, walked through some very stylish/cute/trendy cultural and shopping districts, stopped for a visit at the Mutter Museum (a medical museum) and finally finished at the Museum of Art, home of the "Rocky Steps".

Philly Cuisine/Beverage
Of course we had to have a Philly cheese steak sandwich! According to some friends' recommendations and Yelp, Sonny's was the best. So, we went to Sonny's and had some pretty awesome cheese steaks :)

Also, we managed to discover a pretty awesome beer bar our first night in Philly, Mac's Tavern (we always seem to discover good beer bars in every city we visit ;)). We got to taste some very decent local beers plus some international beers we don't see in a lot of bars. Good times!

Fun Philly Trivia :)

We had a great time in Philly, and have added it to our "places we could live" list as it was an easy-to-navigate city, had a good vibe, good cuisine/bar scene, ample job opportunities for Matt and myself, etc. However, our "places we could live" list is getting pretty long. Maybe we will be nomads until we have tried every interesting city in America ;)
