First Day of Clinicals!

This past Thursday, Sept 15, was my first day of clinicals. What are clinicals? They are hands-on learning at actual hospitals. I even get to wear a cute (said sarcastically) uniform of white scrubs and a navy blue apron. At least there are 7 other students there who are wearing the same thing. So, I am not alone ;)

Clinicals start out with a pre-conference where we go over the learning goals/objectives for the day. Then we are set loose on the patients ;) At the end of the day, we have a post conference where we talk about strengths/weaknesses, what we learned, etc. It all sounds pretty harmless, except for that my heart was pounding pretty hard for most of the day as I wondered, "What the heck am I supposed to be doing?!?" Anyways, it all worked out OK. At the end of the day, I even thought, "That was fun." :) Next week should be much better, and I should be much more confident about what it is I am supposed to be doing. (Hopefully!)

As you may have noticed, my blogging frequency has suffered since I started back at school. I can't say this will change any over the semester. In fact, it will probably get worse. But, I will try my best :)
