Saturday we basked in the lovely weather at an espresso/gelato bar in our neighborhood where we enjoyed double espressos and peanut butter cookies :) That night was our anniversary dinner at The Central Park Boathouse. We have been wanting to go here since we arrived in NYC, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere and views were amazing, not to mention the food was pretty wonderful, too.
On Sunday, our celebrations included a Broadway show, The Meatball Shop (yum!) and a Bob Schneider concert. We saw The Championship Season on Broadway, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Chris Noth, Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan and Jason Patric - an all-star line up for sure!
After the show, we headed towards the Lower East Side where our Bob Schneider concert was showing, and fortunately for us was only a few blocks from The Meatball Shop. As we hadn't been to The Meatball Shop since January, we were pretty excited about going there for dinner before the concert. We choose to try the daily specials: meatball=spicy, wing-sauce flavored chicken meatball with blue cheese dressing; greens= yummy sauteed green beans with paprika and other spices; roasted veggie=pretty delicious beet salad; dessert= snickerdoodle cookie and blueberry ice cream sandwich. Everything was soooo good! I always recommend trying the daily specials at The Meatball Shop as they are always interesting and always tasty :) After dinner, we headed over to the Bowery Ballroom to see Bob Schneider. I think it was the best Bob Schneider show I have seen - love him live!
On Memorial Day we headed out to Governor's Island for The Brewer's PicNyc. The event area was set up with beer tents and food trucks, where you could get food samples or full meals. We usually chose samples so we could try all the food trucks without totally pigging out. It was a day of good beer and good food - super fun! I got some pics, but as usual we seem to eat most things before I remember to take pictures ;)
