On Friday night we went to dinner and a movie. We ate at Energy Kitchen, which is a chain up here quickly becoming one of our go-to places as everything on the menu is under 500 calories, it all tastes good, and you leave feeling full (not feeling like you just ate healthily;)). Then we saw The Adjustment Bureau. It was entertaining and a fairly good flick.
Saturday morning we had really good weather. We needed to run some errands but wanted to take advantage of the nice morning, so mostly accomplished our errands by walking. While out and about, we came upon a charming Italian restaurant around 68th and Columbus that had a very spacious atrium area. We had lunch in the atrium soaking up the sunny warmth and good food.
Saturday night we went to Nobu for the birthday celebration dinner. Matt has only been talking about Nobu since we moved to NYC, so I am glad we finally got to go. It did not disappoint. It was very posh and fabulous. The food was pretty yummy, too :)
The Nobu entrance is incredibly non-descript - we almost walked right by it!
Sunday morning we woke up and did our usual run. However, Matt busted his run up to 6 miles (his usual is 5.25 or so) just to prove he wasn't getting old ;) On our way home, we stopped by Whole Foods for their breakfast bar. We usually have lunch at Whole Foods on Saturday before we do our weekly shopping, but we were keen to try their breakfast bar as it usually looks pretty good. It was delicious! We both had pancakes (but I opted for the Red Velvet Pancakes which were freaking awesome!), eggs, bacon, fruit and coffee. We really enjoyed breakfast and debated making this a weekly thing, but decided it should instead be something we look forward to. So, it may be a monthly/special occasion thing.
We wrapped up our Sunday with a play Matt has been wanting to see called Freud's Last Session. It was an all-dialogue play featuring a fictitious meeting between C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud where they mainly debated aspects of religion (I know you're all thinking, "This totally sounds like something Matt would like" :)). He enjoyed it very much, and so did I. It was a very well-written, unbiased play.
The birthday cookies I made for Matt - Chewy Chocolate Cherry - YUM :)
by the time i was 33, i already had a kid and a house. wtf, matt? get with the program!
