Last Thursday, we got to see our friend Trish who was in town for business. She gets to come to NYC about 5 times a year, and this is the second time we have gotten to visit with her in NYC since we've moved here. We always love getting to see her because we so enjoy her company, get to catch up on all the 'goings-on' with our Dallas peeps, and get to have lots of fun :) This past Thursday, we tried the Casellula Cheese and Wine Cafe, which has fun things on the menu like a Pig's Ass Sandwich as well as the classics like Mac & Cheese or Grilled Cheese Sandwich. The three of us really enjoyed our wine, our cheese, our entrees and two desserts! Highly recommend this place to anyone coming to NYC.
On Friday, Matt took the day off so we could have a fun day together. We started out with yummy bagels and coffee. (At lunch, I had to breakaway from our fun day to go on an interview for my first health care job - which I got, but will talk more about below.) Our fun day ended up in Brooklyn for the night. We started at the Brooklyn Lager Brewery. This beer brand has become pretty big at some of our favorite places in Dallas, and of course it is big here in NYC. So we decided to check out the brewery happy hour. It was good fun, and I even managed to charm a free beer out of the bartender. The brewery even had a resident cat prowling around and making nice with all the patrons (made me think of you, Brookie :))
Our Saturday started with a matinee of The Other Guys. It was amusing, but I am glad we only paid the matinee price :) That night we went to the Riverside Park Summer Concert Series. These are free concerts with small no-name bands. The music wasn't that good but the weather and atmosphere were awesome!

So, really the rest of this past week has been taken up with me getting used to working again. I have my first job in the health care field - YAY! I am working part-time (almost full-time, about 35 hours/wk) at an ophthalmologist's office. I will be working with patients, updating patient info/charts, dealing with insurance companies (yuck) and all kinds of other fun stuff. So far the work is manageable, the hours are good, and I should be able to keep this job as I start school again in January. I am excited to be getting my first health care experience and know that this will really help me when looking for a job as I get out of nursing school.
Congrats on getting the new job!! And thanks for the shout out...I love having buddies in NY to catch up, have fun and kick back after working all day:) See ya soon for tubing!
