Our first week with Lilly

On Sunday, 10/23/2016, Lillian Jaymes Pharr came into the world at 4:57pm weighing 6lbs 12oz and measuring 18.25in tall.  She had powerful lungs as evidenced by her strong, continued cry at birth, which is all I knew of her at first since I didn't get to actually see her for several minutes after her birth (more on that below).  However, Matt and I were proud parents from the moment we saw her, and this past week has been wonderful getting to know our little girl :)  We are in love, but I think Lillian is still deciding about us ;)

Originally, Lillian was scheduled for a c-section on Monday, 10/24/2016, in the early morning due to her breech position.  My parents flew into Los Angeles on Sunday so they could be here for the birth.  Matt, my parents and I were walking to a restaurant for lunch when my water broke.  I said, "Ok, we need to turn around and to to the hospital."

At the hospital, I actually experienced laboring for about 2 hours before we were able to get into the c-section OR suite as twins were currently being delivered via c-section when we arrived at the Labor & Delivery unit.  During those 2 hours, I was really glad I was about to be having a c-section as those contraction pains were coming hard and fast - coming about 2-3 minutes apart and lasting for 1 minute.

Once in the OR, everything went pretty quickly.  Once Lilly was out, I couldn't see her past the sterile partition that hung in front of my face.  So, Matt was giving me the play by play... "She's so beautiful", "She has so much hair, it's brown."  And then, once Lillian was handed over to the Respiratory Therapist and pediatric nurses for evaluation, they called Matt over to look at her and take pics with her.  I was so jealous as I hadn't even gotten to see her yet!  But, shortly after all that, they brought Lilly over to me and I got to be face to face with my baby for the first time.  I'm not gonna lie, there were tears involved - happy tears of course!  :)

This past week has been spent mostly in the hospital, but we have been home since Thursday afternoon.  It has been a learning adventure for me, Matt and Lillian.  This past week seems like it has gone by in a flash and also seems like it has been forever ago since we all went to the hospital on Sunday to meet little Lilly.  Below is basically a photo dump of our last week - enjoy!

Pre-Lilly Pics
Waiting to go to lunch... good thing or my water would have broken while sitting down for lunch - not good ;)
Here I am telling Matt that I think I may have been feeling contractions while waiting to go to lunch... this was about 2 seconds before my water broke and confirmed I was feeling contractions!
Waiting for the OR suite to be available and tracking contractions on my app
Obviously in between contractions or I wouldn't look this happy ;)
Ready for the OR...again, in between contractions, or you would be seeing my mad face ;)
