Whale Watching!

In the interest of exploring our new city/state for everything it has to offer, we try to experience what is unique about it. So, this past weekend we went whale watching - it was soo much fun :)

We drove to Newport Beach (about an hour from us) and realized that we actually like driving in California. It is quite nice driving along an open highway when the rest of Los Angeles isn't on the road with you ;) The company we went out with is Davey's Locker, and they did a wonderful job of spotting the whales and taking the boat as close to the whales as possible to see them the next time they came up for air. We saw about 6-7 blow hole spouts/sprays, and 2-3 whales up close... or the same whale 2-3 times, either way - it was great!

FOOD! :)
We have found some great food places over the last week or so...

We had date night at a tapas place on Abbot Kinney (a 'hot spot' of Venice) called Primitivo. It was fun and delicious!
Some yummy, spicy potatoes (different from what we were expecting - potatoes at tapas places usually are a potato pancake type of dish) They were delish!!

Crab tower and paella - yum :)

Also, after our long run (marathon training) on Saturday, we stopped at Joni's, which is a diner-type place by us, and you know how we love diners :) I had this awesome breakfast - Matt was jealous (he just had regular old pancakes and egg whites).

The Four Seasons Bowl - brown rice, black beans, bacon, egg whites, avocado and salsa - soooo good :)
