Promised Follow-Up

So, I promised I would follow-up on the 'official' celebrations for Matt's birthday. We went to Quality Meats, a steakhouse we had been wanting to try for a while. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, and yet rustic in an upscale way. The food was delicious, and the service was very good, as well. One of our waiters even knew about Johnny Manziel (triggered by my Texas A&M credit card) and we talked a little college football :)

(I have only food shots - I should really start taking pictures of me and Matt ;))

I really liked the setup of the matching table cloth and linen.

Yummy sea salt bread

 Fancy soft-shelled crab
There is no picture of the steak, as we chowed down on that before there was time for a pic :)

Celebrating with champagne and dessert :)

After dinner, we went to Once (wiki info), a musical that has won all kinds of awards and that I had been wanting to see for a while, as well. We really enjoyed the musical. The music was amazing, the story was interesting and the actors/singers/musicians did a good job. However, I have no pics for Once :(

Anything else?
I have started my last semester of nursing school. I attend clinical on Mondays and Tuesdays, plus a full day of class (from 9am to 6pm - yuck) on Thursdays. I graduate in June - WOO HOO!! On a fun side note, they were filming Law & Order SVU at my clinical hospital last week, and we saw Mariska Hartigay filming a scene - that was exciting!

Matt and I went on a retreat with our church last weekend. We took a train up to Poughkeepsie and spent the weekend at Holy Cross Monastery with 25 of our fellow church goers. I have never been to a Monastery before and was a little unsure of what to expect. It was a lovely, quite, restorative weekend. We went to church office/service/Eucharist four times a day. We were provided three meals a day (cooked by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef) and endless fruit/coffee/tea/cocoa available in between meals. We also had 4 sessions over the weekend with our church group on prayer. In between all of that, we had free time (albeit, quiet free time) to read, walk around, nap, contemplate, think, study, etc. The quiet, peaceful, structured retreat was a very nice break from the loud, busy, hectic pace of real life :)

Looking forward to...
We booked our cruise to Greece!! :) We will embark on July 19th in Venice, Italy and will travel to: Dubrovnik, Croatia; Corfu, Greece; Santorini, Greece; Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; Katakolon, Greece. I am so excited about seeing all of these places!
