In the spirit of this post, here are some other successes/celebrations from the past couple of weeks:
- I ended my semester with all As :)
- We have added/replaced different furniture pieces in our apartment, so it looks nicer and better organized.
- We have made it through the first half-week of Lent, and we both are doing pretty good on our Lenten commitments. Also, we are taking a class at our church during Lent; we went to our first class yesterday, and we think we will really enjoy it.
- We have just booked a Jamaican vacation over my Spring Break in April- can't wait!!! :)
- BABIES! (Not ours ;))
- Our friends Nikki and Brad welcomed their new baby, Weston, into the world this morning.
- Our friends Daniel and Ryan announced they are expecting a little one.
Polish Feast!
I realize that on my last blog post I left out the post-semester celebration I had with some of my classmates. After our last final, we all needed to go out and de-stress, relax, laugh and just have some fun. A couple of the girls are from Poland and kept telling us how good Polish food was, and that we could try authentic Polish food at a restaurant called Karczma in Greenpoint (Brooklyn). So, in our light-hearted, adventurous mood (mostly just the euphoric relief of being done for the semester), we headed off to Greenpoint for some Polish culinary delights. Karczma was delightful! It was definitely authentic as most everyone there (staff and customers) were speaking Polish; even the menus were in Polish. They did have some English menus for us non-Polish folks. Our Polish friends guided us on what to order, and the food was delicious!! I can now say that my favorite Polish food is Pierogis, which are stuffed half-moon-shaped dumplings filled with cheese or meat - YUMMY :) In fact, all the food we had (and, it was a lot) was very tasty. So, if any visitors ever need a Polish recommendation for NYC, I can give you one and would gladly accompany you :)
