Thanksgiving 2010

Our first Thanksgiving in New York was wonderful. We started the morning with a run by the Hudson River. Afterward, we attempted to catch some of the Macy's Parade as the starting point was only about a mile from our apartment. However, when we got there it was obvious that the parade had moved past that point as there were crowds of people coming back from the parade route. We debated getting on the subway and trying to get downtown to see some of the parade at the end of the route, but the crowds of people coming back from the parade were also getting on the subway and dissuaded us from trying to go downtown. Oh well... we decided that next year we will make the Macy's Parade a priority and actually start early, get a spot on the route, and watch the floats go by!

We did however make the most of the rest of our morning and had a lovely breakfast at Cosi, a delightful coffe shop chain. We both had some warm, yummy oatmeal with granola and berries and a great, big coffee.

Our Thanksgiving dinner (lunch really) was great. We went to The Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center and got to sit right by the ice rink (inside of course). The Sea Grill was serving a three-course prix-fix menu from which you got to choose an appetizer, main and dessert. I had intended to take pictures of all our courses, but everything was so delicious we kept eating the dishes as soon as they got to the table ;) The pics I did get are below.

Matt's First Course: Sweet Potato and Lobster Bisque (as you can see, it was delicious)
Carissa's First Course: Clam Chowder (which was extremely good, but I managed to remember to take a picture before I ate all of it)

We both had the turkey course which included some really awesome stuffing, mashed potoates and cranberry sauce. (Again, this picture would have been much more satisfying for you guys if I had remembered to snap it before I ate most of it :))

Matt's Dessert: Assortment of Sorbet/Gelatto - blueberry, vanilla bean, chocolate... it was really good
Carissa's Dessert: The 'pumpkin' option - really gingerbread cake with a chilled pumpkin cream log/roll thing on top... pretty good, too.

We have just finished watching the Cowboys almost pull out a win and are now watching the A&M game. Even though UT just put up the first points, I have faith the Ags will pull it out. They have been playing very good football this last part of the season.

We hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)
