So, we've been in NYC for 3 weeks (although it doesn't seem that long!). The first week we were still in temp housing as we were waiting for our belongings to arrive. At the beginning of our second week in NYC we got to move into our new apartment, and Matt promptly left for a week-long work trip to Chicago the next day. Matt felt bad for leaving me with all the unpacking, but that just allowed me to set up the apartment the exact way I wanted :)
Things I Learned Moving Into a New York Apartment (or any apartment really):- Between looking at an apartment and actually moving in, you always seem to remember it being bigger with more closets.
- Apparently it takes 4 trips to Bed Bath & Beyond until you are satisfied with your curtain choice. (Matt does not understand this.)
- For multi-sized and unusual-width/length windows, tension rods seem to work very well. No hardware or drilling required!
- I drastically underestimated the skill it takes to hang a picture level using nails/screws. I saw a commercial the other day for those velcro command strips and wonder if they work.
We still need a curtain for the kitchen window and a bistro table to complete our dining area. But, other than that our apartment is pretty much done. We really love the apartment. It is spacious, bright and feels like home. Enjoy the pics!
Our very LARGE galley kitchen.
Look at all the storage - and that's only on one side of the kitchen!

Our comfy living room.
Our very peaceful bedroom :)
I love it- you did a great job!
