Our First California Thanksgiving

Our first Thanksgiving in California was just wonderful :)

Thanksgiving Dinner
As is our tradition, we went out to a nice Thanksgiving dinner, but this time we got to enjoy views of the beach as we ate turkey :) We went to Gladstone's, which is a seafood restaurant in Malibu right on the beach. The food was good and the views were spectacular!

Great Food
Traditional turkey dinner
Usually, we both get Thanksgiving dinner. But, this year we decided to try the restaurant's usual menu items as well. We split everything so we both got to enjoy Thanksgiving and a little something extra :)
We even had Thanksgiving-themed coffee!
Fun foil take homes :)
Thanksgiving Weekend
Another (and favorite) Thanksgiving tradition of ours is traveling. This Thanksgiving we went to Palm Springs. I don't know what I was expecting, but Palm Springs wasn't what I expected - if that makes any sense ;)

Palm Springs is pretty awesome. There are beautiful mountains all around, but it still feels like a wide open space. The vibe of the city is incredibly relaxed and laid back. Somehow, time goes by slowly - which is awesome and perplexing all at the same time. Each day we would do all of the things on our 'list of things to do and see in Palm Springs' for that day, and when we were finished it would still be the middle of the day. Or, we would go to dinner, have a lovely dinner (3 courses plus drinks) and yet it would only be 8 or so. We had so much time - again such a relaxing and wonderful feeling. We kind of want to move there :) However, that would be a long commute, but maybe it is a retirement option ;)

Beautiful Palm Springs!

The Top (err, middle) of the Mountains

What's funny (and awesome!) about the Palm Springs weather, is that we were hiking in snow-covered mountains in the morning (at about 40 degrees), and then laying by the pool at our hotel during the afternoon (sunny and 80!).

Besides the mountains, another highlight of our trip was some great food. We went to two places we really liked, Lulu and Spencer's. Spencer's was our 'date night' in Palm Springs and a really romantic and cozy spot. Some pics below.

Really Yummy Food!
Tomato Salad
Scallops
We shared filet mignon, some really yummy g-free mac and cheese and green beans
Banana Pudding Martini :)
Ambiance :)

A great trip! If anyone is looking for a fun, relaxing, weather-perfect vacation - I highly recommend Palm Springs :)
