Exploring MDR

So, Matt and I are loving our little community of Marina del Rey - known as MDR or MdR. This took me a while to figure out as I've been driving around wondering "what is MDR?" and then the light bulb switched on :)

On Thursday, I went to our local farmer's market, which is every Thursday from 7:30am - 1:30pm, and I plan on going every Thursday :) It was so cute and had lots of good (and mostly organic) fruits, veggies, nuts, dips and more!

On Friday, we attended our first baseball game. We have decided that the LA Dodgers will be our LA team. This was really a non-choice since the other LA baseball team (the Angels) are in the same league with the Rangers and play the Rangers often, and we could never cheer for a team against the Rangers. So, the Dodgers will be our team :)

The game was fun, but unfortunately we left too early. It was the bottom of the 7th, Dodgers were down 6-1, hadn't made any signs of rallying and we were facing a 2-hr commute home. So, we made the decision to leave. However, I usually have a rule of never leaving a game early, and I wish I would have stuck to that because the Dodgers rallied in the 9th and ended up winning 7-6. Crazy!

On Sunday, we visited our 2nd church in the area. It was a nice experience and reinforced how wonderful our community is. Also, we rented bikes (a free amenity from our apartment - nice!) and explored our neighborhood on 2 wheels. We biked to one of the beaches in Manhattan Beach - another beach community not too far from ours - laid out for a little while and then biked back home. It was a lovely, beachy afternoon :)

AND, we of course have found some great eating places :)

Brunch at the Sunny Spot, which was sunny, warm and served delicious food :)

Really, really yummy gluten-free pizza (yes - both gluten-free and delicious!) at Fresh Brothers.

All in all, we are really excited about our new community and looking forward to exploring more :)
