Hello 2013!

Hello friends :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration. We had a lovely time at a friend's house party. We have spent the last several New Year's Eves at a restaurant with a nice dinner, a band and champagne toast at midnight. It was really nice to do something different this year, and to enjoy a more relaxed evening with friends.

A look back...
at the 2012 goals I/we set in Jan of 2012. So, how'd I/we do:

  • (We goal) Commit to a date night every month.
    • COMPLETE. Matt and I did not miss one date night, and due to holidays, special events, etc even had several months with multiple date nights. It has been really fun to have special nights where we do something a little bigger or a little grander than usual. We will definitely keep this up in 2013.
  • (We goal) Knock one thing off of our NYC bucket list per month.
    • MOSTLY COMPLETE. I am not sure if we knocked something off every month, but our bucket list is becoming pretty short. So, we are doing good on that.
  • (We goal) Increase our running distance and/or speed.
    • MORE OR LESS COMPLETE. I did not actually stick to my original plan of running one 6-mile run a weekend (on top of my usual 5-mile runs 4x/week). But, Matt and I did run in 9 New York Road Runners races this past year for a total of 47.6 miles of racing. So, that's good enough for me :)
  • (Me goal) Organize my study time better.
    • NOT SO MUCH. I think I did better at making my study time more efficient and studying better, but I have a lot more work to do. This goal will continue into 2013.
  • (Me goal) Make picture books.
    • MORE OR LESS COMPLETE. I finally finished our picture book of our time in Europe. I think I will do one for each year of living in NYC, too. So, this goal will continue into 2013 as well.
  • (Me goal) Blog every week for one hour.
    • MASSIVE FAIL. Looking back at my blogging history, I only had 23 entries last year, and there were several months where I had no entry. I think every week was a little ambitious along with my school commitments. So, this goal will continue into 2013 (with a few tweaks).

What's in store...
for 2013? I will continue with the 'goals' - again, goals are softer than resolutions because the term goal implies that you don't have to hit 100% but can always strive for 100% ;)
  • Goals carried over from 2012
    • Continue to knock things off of our bucket list.
      • We are really concentrating on seeing all of the professional sports teams that we haven't made it to yet - which are a lot (Jets, Giants, Mets, Knicks, Rangers)
    • Improve the efficiency/effectiveness of my study time.
      • I only have one more big semester to go, so hopefully I can make it through :)
    • Picture books.
      • I really would like to capture our NYC life in pictures. Especially before it becomes a truly overwhelming task (may be too late for that ;))
    • Blog more.
      • This goal is going to be adjusted to every 2 weeks or 2 times per month. I think I can commit to this.
  • Things to look forward to in 2013
    • June 2013 - Graduation - WOOHOO!!!!!
    • June/July 2013 - cruise to Greece to celebrate 5-year anniversary and graduation
    • Nov 2013 - NYC marathon (more on that later)
  • New goals??
    • Pass NCLEX on first try
    • Get a job!! :)

I think 2013 is going to be a fabulous year. Can't wait! :)
